BBC Proms at Swansea

BBC Proms, Swansea On September 12th, Swansea's Singleton Park hosted its seventh BBC Proms in the Park. The venue was part of a televised live link-up with The Royal Albert Hall and other parks across the UK for the traditional Last Night celebrations.

The BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Swansea Bach Choir with guests Only Men Aloud and soprano Elin Manahan Thomas delivered an evening of rousing choruses and orchestral favourites, accompanied by spectacular fireworks. In addition to providing a breathtaking finale, we also fired to Handel's Music for The Royal Fireworks -giving 8,000 patriotic spectators a taste of Jubilee's very own symphony in the sky.

Festival of Fireworks, Catton Hall

Jubilee Fireworks at the Festival of Fireworks, Catton Hall The 11th edition of the Festival of Fireworks was hailed as a great success, with a record crowd attending the event at Catton Hall. The Festival, which was first staged in 1999 at Shugborough, is now established as one the premier fireworks events in the UK. As Festival organisers, we are responsible for all of the infrastructure and event management, in addition to staging the closing display.

The 2009 show included a fine demonstration of aerial shells by the master firework makers Yung Feng. Multi-award winning company Pyro 2000 and twice winners of the Welsh Fireworks Championships Pendragon also staged spectacular pyro-musical shows - followed by an expertly choreographed Jubilee display designed by Andrew Wiggins and featuring some of our finest firework effects.

Eurodisney call on Jubilee's expertise

moteurs action, disney Part of our extensive work portfolio involves the provision of consultancy services. When Disney Resort Paris required technical support for their FireOne pyrotechnic control system, our very own boffin Rodney Clarke was asked to help.

Over recent years, we have built up a very strong relationship with PMI, manufacturers of the FireOne system. Rodney now undertakes consultancy work throughout Europe to assist with installations, show control and trouble shooting. Eurodisney's Moteurs Action stunt show designers benefitted from Rodney's expertise and we look forward to building our relationship with Europe's greatest theme park.

Explosive welcome for new Chief Scout

Bear Grylls, Chief Scout When Bear Grylls accepted the job of new Chief Scout at Gillwell Activity Centre on 11th July, Jubilee were on hand to provide an explosive exclamation as Bear took over the reins from Blue Peter presenter Peter Duncan. A short and dramatic sequence of daylight smoke mines (in green and purple) and maroon shells, accompanied with a blast of confetti, added an exciting pyrotechnic element to the proceedings.

Bear is probably best known for his television series Born Survivor, in which he performs improbable stunts in the name of wilderness survival. Of his new role, Bear said “The Scouting Movement is a massive force for good, touching many, many young lives. Above all, it gives millions of kids the chance to live and learn about the wild and to experience real adventure". We wish him every success.

Musical Fireworks 'Champion of Champions'

The Lancashire resort of Southport provides a great venue for the annual British Musical Fireworks Championships. Jubilee were the first ever winners of this coveted title, back in 1999, and this year we returned to compete in the Champion of Champions event, in which all of the previous winners went 'head to head'.

The event, which is held in Kings Gardens, attracts in the region of 15,000 people over three nights. Seven of the UKs top display companies performed with their best in order to gain the number one accolade - with musical choice, artistic interpretation, and display design being key features in the judging criteria. We were delighted to be crowned Champion of Champions after a flawless performance. Press report • Video

Walney Bridge Centenary Celebrations

In July 2008, Jubilee Fireworks were commissioned to design a spectacular display to commemorate the centenary of Walney Bridge, linking Barrow in Furness to Walney island.

Over 2000 people turned out to witness the display which was fired across the entire length of the appropriately named 'Jubilee Bridge'. The highlight of the show was a 300 metre waterfall, which created a fabulous curtain of fire - a breathtaking affect greatly appreciated by the excited audience. The display was the culmination of a series of community events and a great day of celebration. Press report • Video

Isle of Wight Festival - Finale Triumph

Over 50,000 people attended this year's Isle of Wight Festival, with top bands such as The Police, Kaiser Chiefs, The Sex Pistols, Sugarbabes and Starsailor heading the bill.  Jubilee's display team was set the task of providing a spectacular finale for this fabulous event, organised by Solo Promotions.

As Sting and The Police left the stage, we lit up the night sky with a stunning bombardment.  Virgin Radio commented;  'Am I the only one still impressed with fireworks?  Wow!  The Festival has gone out with a bang as some spectacular firworks left a cloud of smoke over Seaclose Park...'

'Sci-Fireworks' - New show launch

Following the tremendous success of our themed show 'Sky-Rockers' (launched in 2007), we have added a new display 'Sci-Fireworks' to our fantastic repertoire of pyro-musical displays.

This superb show is set to become the No 1 November attraction at venues up and down the country. Combining great musical tracks (The Matrix Reloaded, Futurama, Stardust, Transformers....), with potent pyrotechnics, we have designed a show that really will be 'out of this world'.

The Lake of Dreams

We have enjoyed long associations with the 'British Musical Fireworks Championships' - a popular annual event staged by Sefton Council and held at the Marine Lake in Southport.  In 2007, Jubilee were commissioned to stage a special introductory display, on each of the three evenings of the competition.

Our show, entitled 'The Lake of Dreams' incorporated a range of low level and acquatic effects and demonstrated how a digital firing system can be used to its full advantage.

A wide frontage of 400 metres was employed, with numerous individual effects fired from multiple positions to generate beautiful symmetry and stunning reflections in the lake.

World Fireworks Champions

Our second performance at competition level, in September, was in response to an invitation to present the UK entry into the 'World Fireworks Championships', held in Blackpool.

Four companies battled it out throughout September to gain the prestigious title.  On this occasion, we competed against Pirotechnia Minhota from Portugal, DW Fireworks of Canada, and Design Fireworks from Austria.

Blackpool's promenade welcomed more than a quarter of a million visitors during the four heats and we were delighted to be crowned 'World Champions' for 2007.

The Mayor of Blackpool commented “The UK’s entry was a clear favourite with the crowds, and I am pleased to announce that Jubilee Fireworks take home the trophy this year.”
